Updated October 2026 with current Indian retail prices.
Most players blame their phone. Adarsh never owned a gaming phone, and his Free Fire MAX career screen shows 137,043 Clash Squad eliminations anyway, all on budget Android phones. We checked his numbers and asked how he does it.
The numbers, checked
AACHU
Every number from his Clash Squad career screen, screenshot taken 7 October 2026. Also on it: 162,172 knockdowns. Character art: his in-game profile, Garena Free Fire MAX.
Clash Squad is Free Fire’s 4 versus 4 round mode, where teams buy weapons before each round and the first side to win enough rounds takes the match.

- 2018Starts on a Samsung Galaxy J2
He picked up Free Fire after watching his friends play. The J2 had 1 GB of RAM. “It wasn’t a gaming phone, and lag was always a problem,” he told us.
- February 2022Free Fire is blocked in India
The original game was blocked on 14 February 2022. Free Fire MAX, Garena’s other version, carried on: India’s official tournament, the Free Fire MAX India Cup, runs on it in 2026, and it is the game in all of Adarsh’s screenshots, set to the India server. Source: the block was ordered under Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000. The government did not publish the app list; Google confirmed it blocked the apps after the interim order, as reported by TechCrunch.
- LaterMoves to a POCO C3
Bought hoping for smoother games. “Even now, I still face lag on both phones I’ve used,” he says.
- TodaySame phone, same mode
Still on the POCO C3, still playing Clash Squad, mostly with random teammates rather than a fixed squad.
He did not set out to chase a number. “I didn’t start playing with the goal of reaching a huge number of eliminations,” he wrote to us. Clash Squad is simply the mode he enjoys most, and he kept coming back to it.
Even with the lag, I never felt like giving up the game.

His phone, and what to buy today
The POCO C3 is no longer sold new. On Amazon it now turns up only from resellers, for more than it cost at launch, so we would not pay that. If you want to start where Adarsh is today but with more headroom, the same money gets a much faster chip.

Adarsh’s 3 tips for low end phones
- Use graphics your phone can handle comfortably
A steady frame rate beats pretty graphics that stutter in the middle of a fight.
- Close background apps before you start
On 4 GB of RAM, every app left open takes memory the game could use.
More fixes in our Free Fire lag guide for India. - If the phone gets hot or lags badly, take a break
Let it cool down before the next match. A hot phone slows itself down.
Long Clash Squad sessions? A clip-on cooler such as the EvoFox Hailstone S (₹689 on Amazon, 19 Oct) fits Android phones like his. More picks in our phone cooler guide.
