The PS5 got more expensive in India this year, not cheaper. In July 2026 the Slim Disc’s M.R.P. went from ₹54,990 to ₹69,990, and the 2026 Great Indian Festival gave no PS5 discount. A year earlier, Sony’s festival offer had put the same console at ₹49,990.

PS5 Slim Disc: the one you can buy
The Slim Disc Edition is the PS5 most people should buy, and on 3 Nov 2026 it was ₹69,985 on Amazon.in against an M.R.P. of ₹69,990 (in stock when we read the listing on 28 Oct). It has a 1TB SSD and a disc drive that plays 4K Blu-ray, so you can buy used games and sell yours when you’re done, which a digital console can’t do.
One thing to check: the listing we found was sold by a third party seller and shipped by Amazon. Before you pay, check the warranty line on the listing and keep the invoice; you’ll need it for any warranty claim.

PS5 Slim Digital: back in stock
The Digital Edition is the same console without the disc drive. It was unavailable on Amazon.in on 27 Oct 2026, and back in stock on 28 Oct 2026 at ₹64,990, ₹4,995 less than the Disc Edition. That matches the price news reports gave it after the July price rise.
The catch: every game has to come from the PlayStation Store, so you can’t buy used games or sell yours. If you change your mind later, Sony sells a separate disc drive for it; it’s further down this page.

PS5 Pro: no official India price yet
Sony hasn’t launched the PS5 Pro in India. The model, CFI-7121, was listed on India’s BIS certification database in March 2026, which usually happens before a launch, but there’s no date or price yet. Pro units sold in India now are imports, and they don’t come with a Sony India warranty. If you’re tempted, read our PS5 Pro in India guide first.
Where to buy a PS5 in India
Sony Center stores, Croma and Reliance Digital sell the PS5 in person, and Amazon.in and Flipkart sell it online. What matters more than the store is the seller: buy from Sony, an authorised retailer, or a listing that states the Sony India warranty, and keep the GST invoice. A listing that’s much cheaper than the M.R.P. is usually old stock, an import or a used console.
Waiting for a sale? It worked last year: from 22 Sep to 19 Oct 2025, Sony took ₹5,000 off and the Disc Edition sold for ₹49,990. After the July 2026 price rise, the 2026 Great Indian Festival gave no PS5 discount, so there’s no sign that waiting saves money right now.
Do you need more storage?
Probably, if you install big games. The Slim’s 1TB SSD has noticeably less than 1TB free once the system software is installed, and big games take a lot of it, so most owners end up deleting and reinstalling games. The fix is a second SSD in the PS5’s M.2 slot under the side cover.
Sony’s rules for that SSD, from its own support page: a PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe drive, 2230 to 22110 long, with a sequential read speed of 5,500MB/s or faster recommended, and a heatsink or heat transfer sheet fitted, with the whole thing no thicker than 11.25mm. Both picks below meet those rules with the heatsink already on.

SSD prices have risen sharply in 2026, so both cost much more than the same drives did a year ago. A cheaper USB external drive can play PS4 games and store PS5 games, but PS5 games have to be moved back to the internal SSD or an M.2 drive to play. Our best SSD guide covers more drives.

A second controller
You need one if anyone else plays with you. When we checked, Sony’s standard white, black and red DualSense controllers were all unavailable on Amazon.in, and the Techno Red edition we listed before had sold out, so the cheapest Sony DualSense in stock was a limited edition. A UPS for power cuts
A power cut while the PS5 is saving or updating can corrupt data, and voltage swings are hard on any electronics. A UPS gives you time to save and shut down properly. Is PS Plus worth it in India?
You need PS Plus Essential to play most games online, so for anyone who plays multiplayer it’s part of the cost. Sony raised Indian PS Plus prices in May 2026, by up to about 30%. India gets Essential, Extra and Deluxe; there’s no Premium tier here.

- Extra: Essential plus a catalogue of PS5 and PS4 games
- Deluxe: Extra plus classic games and game trials
The 12 month plan works out much cheaper than paying monthly. Extra and Deluxe are worth it if you’d rather play a rotating catalogue than buy games, but games leave the catalogue, so you can lose access to one before you finish it; your saves stay, so you can buy the game later.
Buying a used PS5
With new prices up, a used PS5 is tempting. OLX, Cashify and local sellers all have them. Prices vary a lot by condition, age and what’s included, so compare several listings rather than trusting a single figure. Before you pay:
- Test it in person: start a demanding game and play for a few minutes, listening for loud fan noise
- Check every controller for stick drift: let go of the sticks and watch whether the camera or cursor still moves
- Check the HDMI port and the USB ports for damage
- Ask for the original invoice; without it, any remaining Sony India warranty is hard to claim
- Sign the seller out of their PSN account on the console before you leave
Skip grey imports
A PS5 bought abroad or from an importer works with Indian PSN accounts, but Sony India’s warranty won’t cover it, and any PS Plus code in a foreign box may not work on an Indian account. If something goes wrong, you’re on your own, which can cost more than you saved.

Just the console and a year of PS Plus Essential comes to ₹75,124 at the 3 Nov 2026 console price. Skip what you don’t need: the SSD can wait until you run out of space, and the UPS matters most where power cuts are common.

On 3 Nov 2026 we rechecked the two PS5 Slim listings, and both prices were unchanged. Price history comes from news reports: The Week for the 2025 festival offer, LatestLY and Smartprix for the July 2026 price rise, and PCQuest for the 2026 festival sale. The SSD rules come from Sony’s PlayStation support page, and the Crucial P310 fit from Crucial’s own page. We haven’t tested these products ourselves; we only state what the listings and sources say.

On 3 Nov 2026 the PS5 Slim Disc Edition was listed on Amazon.in just under its new M.R.P., which Sony raised in July 2026. The Slim Digital was a little less, and the PS5 Pro has no official India price. See the table at the top of this page for the exact figures.
Did the PS5 price go up in India?
Yes. News reports in late July 2026 showed the Slim Disc’s M.R.P. rising sharply, with the Digital Edition reported higher too. We found no public statement from Sony India, but the new M.R.P. is on retailer listings.
Will the PS5 get cheaper in the next sale?
We can’t promise that. Sony’s 2025 festival offer cut the price, but the 2026 Great Indian Festival gave no PS5 discount after the July price rise. We’ll update this page when the price moves.
