Updated April 2026 with current Indian retail prices.
- PS5 Slim Disc: Rs 54,990 official MRP. Real selling price drops to Rs 49,990 on Amazon Great Indian Festival and Flipkart Big Billion Days. Sony India warranty included.
- PS5 Slim Digital: Rs 44,990. Worth the saving only if you have a 100 Mbps plus internet plan and do not care about reselling games.
- PS5 Pro: Rs 79,990 to Rs 89,990 grey market through Games The Shop or Cybek. Sony India does not import this model. Buy only if you have a 4K 120Hz TV and the budget for a 2TB NVMe upgrade on top.
- Best deal window: October Big Billion Days, then again during Black Friday week in November. Console + bonus controller bundles drop Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000 below sticker.
The PS5 was supposed to fix the supply problem that the original launch broke. For the first 18 months you could not find one in India without paying Rs 75,000 plus to a scalper or refreshing Amazon at midnight on launch day. That ended around 2023. Stock is now real and the question stops being can I find one and starts being which SKU and where do I get the best price.
This is a working price snapshot from April 2026. I update the table once a quarter, the sticker prices below match what Sony Center, Croma, Amazon, and Flipkart are quoting this month. If you are reading this six months from now, expect the digital edition to have dropped by Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 and the disc edition to track the same direction. Sony does not announce price drops in India publicly, the changes show up on retailer pages without warning.
Every PS5 SKU sold in India right now
| PS5 model | Storage | Disc drive | Sony India MRP | Real selling price | India warranty |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 Slim Disc | 1TB | Yes (detachable) | Rs 54,990 | Rs 49,990 to Rs 54,990 | 1 year Sony India |
| PS5 Slim Digital | 1TB | No (add-on Rs 7,499) | Rs 44,990 | Rs 39,990 to Rs 44,990 | 1 year Sony India |
| PS5 Standard (original launch unit) | 825GB | Yes (built-in) | Discontinued | Rs 38,000 to Rs 44,000 (used market) | Original warranty expired |
| PS5 Pro | 2TB | No (add-on Rs 7,499 if available) | Not officially launched | Rs 79,990 to Rs 89,990 grey market | None (importer warranty only) |
Two facts that retailers will not tell you. The original launch PS5 has been replaced everywhere by the Slim. Anyone selling you a “new” original PS5 in 2026 is moving very old inventory or relabeling refurbished stock. Buy Slim. The PS5 Pro situation is the opposite of the original supply crisis: there is supply globally, Sony just chose not to bring it to India officially. That probably changes in 2026 or early 2027 if Sony cares about the Indian market, but for now Pro means grey market.
Where to buy a PS5 in India
I have bought from three of the four big channels in India. Each has a slightly different deal pattern.
Sony Center (offline retail): Sticker price, pay full MRP, warranty handled cleanly because you walked into Sony’s own store. Worth it if you want to inspect the box, take it home the same day, and have a nearby Sony service center for any post-sale issues. The Mumbai Andheri Sony Center and the Bangalore Indiranagar one have the most stock in my experience.
Amazon.in: The biggest discount window is the Great Indian Festival in October, where the Disc edition has hit Rs 49,990 multiple times in 2024 and 2025. Bonus offers are usually a free DualSense charging dock or a Spider-Man 2 disc. Card discount on Amazon Pay ICICI is another Rs 1,500 off. Free delivery in Tier 1 metros within 24 hours.
Flipkart: Big Billion Days (October) and Big Diwali Sale (November) match Amazon on PS5 pricing. Flipkart’s value comes from the SuperCoin redemption: usually 5% to 8% effective extra savings if you already have a balance. The downside is Flipkart’s PS5 listings flip between official Sony India distribution and third-party sellers, and the third-party sellers occasionally ship without proper warranty. Stick to listings that say “Sold by Flipkart” or “Sony India”.
Reliance Digital and Croma: Same MRP as Sony Center, occasionally Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 off during festival season. Both stock the Disc edition reliably, the Digital edition is hit or miss. EMI options are slightly better than online (zero-cost EMI runs to 12 months versus the Amazon 6 month max).
The deal hierarchy
If you are buying right now, before October, pay Sony Center MRP and forget about it. If you can wait until October, the Amazon Great Indian Festival or Flipkart Big Billion Days will save you Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000. Past Black Friday week the prices climb back to MRP. Buying in late January after the festival rush is the worst window because retailers have already sold inventory at discount and need to rebuild margin.
PS5 game pricing in India: what you pay through the year
The console is the upfront spend. The library is the ongoing spend. Here is what AAA games on PS5 cost in India through the year.
| Title window | Disc price | PS Store digital | Best buying time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brand new AAA (week 1 to 4) | Rs 4,499 to Rs 4,999 | Rs 4,999 to Rs 5,499 | Wait at least 2 months unless first-party hype is real |
| 3 to 6 months old | Rs 3,499 to Rs 3,999 | Rs 3,999 to Rs 4,499 | Best price-to-fresh ratio |
| 6 to 12 months old | Rs 2,499 to Rs 2,999 | Rs 2,999 to Rs 3,499 (festival sale only) | Festival sales hit this tier hard |
| 12 plus months old | Rs 1,499 to Rs 2,499 | Rs 1,499 to Rs 2,499 (any sale) | Catch up on backlog |
The single most useful fact about PS5 game pricing in India: discs drop in price faster than digital. PS Store India is allergic to discounting first-party Sony titles. Spider-Man 2 was Rs 4,999 on disc the day Helldivers 2 launched, but PS Store still wanted Rs 4,999 for the digital code. Three months later the disc was Rs 3,499 and the digital was still Rs 4,999. Discs win on resale value too: a 6 month old disc on OLX or Cashify in Mumbai or Bangalore goes for Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500. A digital code goes for Rs 0 because it is locked to your account.
Storage upgrade is mandatory
The PS5 Slim ships with 1TB. After system reservation you get about 842GB usable. Sounds like a lot. Modern AAA install sizes blow through it.
- Black Myth Wukong: 130GB
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: 99GB
- GTA 5 (current-gen patch): 105GB
- Spider-Man 2: 98GB
- Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3: 184GB if you have all the modes installed
You can keep maybe 6 to 8 games installed before juggling. The fix is a Sony-approved Gen4 NVMe SSD installed in the M.2 slot under the side cover. Installation takes 5 minutes with a Phillips screwdriver and the bay is tool-friendly.
Rules for picking the right NVMe: must be Gen4 (Gen3 will not boot games), must have a heatsink (the PS5 throttles without one), Sony’s certified compatibility list at this point covers basically every recent Western Digital, Samsung, Crucial, Kingston, Sabrent, and Seagate Gen4 with heatsink. The two I have actually run in my Slim are the SN850X 1TB and Samsung 990 Pro 2TB. Both work fine, both stay under 65 degrees during sustained writes.
Is PS Plus worth it in India
Yes, but pick the right tier. The Indian PS Plus pricing was rebalanced in early 2025 and the math is now reasonable.
| PS Plus tier | Monthly cost | Annual cost | Worth it for whom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | Rs 499 | Rs 4,990 | Anyone who wants online multiplayer + 2 to 3 free games per month |
| Extra | Rs 749 | Rs 7,490 | Players who prefer rotating catalogue (400+ games) over owning |
| Premium | Rs 949 | Rs 9,490 | Adds PS3 streaming + classic PS1/PS2 games. Niche. |
The annual purchase saves about 17% over monthly billing. PSN India accepts UPI now (added 2024), no more credit card requirement. Card decline rates on Indian-issued credit cards are still about 30% from my testing on HDFC, ICICI, and SBI cards. UPI works first try.
The catch with Plus Extra: when a game leaves the catalogue (and they do, every quarter), you lose access. Save data carries over so you can buy the game later if you want to finish it. Premium adds streaming for older PlayStation games but the Indian internet routing for that streaming service is not great. Pings to the streaming server from Mumbai run 80 to 120 ms, which is fine for turn-based RPGs and tolerable for slow action games, but unplayable for anything reflex-driven.
Used PS5 market in India
The Indian secondhand console market is mostly OLX, Cashify, and Reddit’s r/IndianGaming. Cashify gives you instant cash for trade-ins (lowballs you by Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000), OLX is a wider market with more haggling, Reddit is for buyers who want a verified seller and proper photos.
Used PS5 Slim Disc pricing tracker (April 2026 data, sourced from active OLX listings I have monitored across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore):
- 3 to 6 months old: Rs 42,000 to Rs 48,000
- 6 to 12 months old: Rs 38,000 to Rs 44,000
- 12 to 24 months old: Rs 32,000 to Rs 40,000
- 24 plus months old: Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000
What to check on a used PS5: HDMI port for liquid metal leakage (early launch units had a thermal paste issue, the Slim does not, but verify), fan noise under load (boot Spider-Man 2 and listen for 10 minutes), controller stick drift (every old DualSense will eventually drift, deduct Rs 4,000 if drift is present), bundled games and accessories (extra controller plus charging dock plus a few games can be worth Rs 8,000 plus over the bare console). Always test in person if buying via OLX. Cashify and Reddit verified sellers usually offer decent return windows.
What you need on day one with a PS5
The console alone is incomplete. Here is the realistic day-one Indian shopping list once you decide to buy.

Sony DualSense Wireless Controller (Indian Sony India warranty)
Second controller: Mandatory if you have couch co-op friends or any household member who plays. The DualSense is Rs 5,990 retail and rarely discounts below Rs 5,500. The Cosmic Red and Galactic Purple variants drop more during festival sales than the standard White.
Charging dock or extra USB-C cable: DualSense battery is 6 to 8 hours mixed-genre. The Sony official charging dock is Rs 3,499 and worth it for tidy storage. Third-party docks at Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 work but the Joy-Con drift situation in the Switch should remind you that cheap accessories with charging contacts wear out faster.
Headset for late-night play: Standard 3.5mm jack on the controller works with any wired headset. The Sony Pulse 3D wireless headset at Rs 9,990 is overpriced. Our best gaming headphones under 5000 picks all work fine on PS5 through the controller jack.
Storage upgrade: Already covered above. Add to cart with the console if you can stretch budget by Rs 8,500.
UPS or stabilizer: Indian summer storms have killed more PS4s than I can count. The PS5 has the same vulnerability. APC BR1500GI at Rs 18,499 or any equivalent at the Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 range from a brand like APC, V-Guard, Microtek. Skipping this is the most expensive false economy in Indian console gaming.
TV or monitor with HDMI 2.1: The PS5 outputs 4K 120Hz only over HDMI 2.1. Most Indian TVs sold under Rs 60,000 are HDMI 2.0 still, capping you at 4K 60Hz or 1440p 120Hz. If your TV is older, a gaming monitor is the cheaper path. See our best gaming monitor under 30000 for picks that handle HDMI 2.1 properly.
The one thing you should not do with a PS5 in India
Do not buy a US or UK region PS5 for cheap from a grey market seller or Goa duty-free shop. The console itself is region-free for games and PSN, that is true. But Sony India warranty does not cover non-Indian-region hardware, the bundled HDMI cable is sometimes the wrong region for Indian TVs, and the most painful catch: the bundled PS Plus codes that come with regional PS5 boxes are tied to the original region, so the 3-month Plus code in a US PS5 box will not work on an Indian PSN account. You save Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 upfront and lose the warranty protection that costs Sony India about Rs 12,000 for an out-of-warranty motherboard repair. Bad math.
What I would buy in 2026
If I were buying my first PS5 in India this month: PS5 Slim Disc at Rs 54,990 from Sony Center, or wait until October Big Billion Days for Rs 49,990 on Amazon or Flipkart. Plus 12 months of PS Plus Essential (Rs 4,990 annual). Plus a 1TB WD_BLACK SN850X (Rs 8,499 when it goes on sale, otherwise Samsung 980 Pro 1TB at Rs 7,499). Plus a UPS (Rs 5,000 minimum, Rs 18,499 for the APC BR1500GI). Total: Rs 73,479 to Rs 88,978 first-year out of pocket before games.
That gets you a console that lasts 5 to 7 years in India, runs every multiplat AAA, has real warranty, and resells at 60 to 70 percent of original after 2 years if you ever want to upgrade.
If you want the side-by-side comparison of PS5 versus Xbox versus Switch for India, that is a separate piece: best gaming console in India 2026.
Next price snapshot update: July 2026, after the summer buying lull and before the October festival window.
